Don’t let breaking news break you.

I find that horses can anchor us to reality sometimes.

Maybe that’s because they just don’t spend too much time worrying about what might be coming. Instead they tend to deal with issues as the issue arises and then go back to enjoying their life once the issue has subsided.

While we humans don’t quite have that luxury, especially in these surreal times, there is something to say for varying the information we feed our brains. It doesn’t mean we should ignore reality, maybe just vary the menu once and a while so that our brain can catch a break.

Stay safe.

Thank you Pat for kick starting our minds into an alternate perspective. It’s too easy to get sucked into a vortex of ‘bad news’, but don’t live there. I am amazed at all the creative stuff kids and families are coming up with to pass the time during self isolation. And learning new things as you have illustrated in your video is perfect to fire up those neurons. I myself have signed up online to learn how to cook oil free, you know without burning anything!! LOL!!

Learn on my friends and watch lots of cat, dog and horse videos…..and “Is My Horse Happy.com” videos!!!!

My husband and I decided to rid our home of the TV when we married 28 years ago. Not for one moment have we regretted it! We go outside, take walks, groom horses, ride, clean the barn and tack shed and just enjoy LIFE!
Thank you for wise words to TURN OFF THE NEWS! Their job is to stir the pot and get people excited. I HATE the background noise as they report the traffic. Like I don’t have enough to do just keeping my sanity while I sit in bumper to bumper traffic at 5:30pm right? I always comment to the storekeeper how I love shopping in his store when the background music is OFF!. I can think about what I need then get on with my task and get out of there. Restaurants who have turned off the music have a more relaxed clientele and the experience is more enjoyable. It’s nice to hear the voices of other people humming around you while you dine. We will survive this folks! I always think of those people who lived through WW1 and WW2. God bless their souls, it was NOT the end of the world, but it sure seemed like it to them! So I agree with you, slow down, find work for your brain, love your animals and your kids and be a good example of how to de-stress your life. Things will pick up again and when they do, go out there with a smile on your face knowing that the day is what you make of it. Thanks for your posts, you’re like talking to an old friend.

Great advice Pat! Don’t listen to the news too often and learn something new. Our local library offers a lot of digital resources. All you need is your library card to access e-books and a language learning program, among other things. Best wishes to you and the horses during this challenging time.

    1. Thank you Carolyn. I didn’t know that about the library..that’s great to know. Stay safe and thanks for thinking of us.
