I think the answer to that question depends on the day you ask me.
But sometimes, when I’m tired, I stop and think how 10 year old me would be so excited to spend time with these wonderful creatures. And then ‘old’ me remembers how lucky I am…:-)

Hi Pat,
You are right on! I feel like my younger self and I have more energy when I am in the barn. I’d rather be in a barn than a store or gym or fancy restaurant, etc. Thanks for positive inspiration.

Wow Pat! Your blog comes at a very interesting time for us..I have been taking care of my 2 horses on my own, driving back and forth between barn and home in the morning and evening, while sorting out rental arrangements. Last couple of nights I have been so tired, but the moment I step into the barn, and see their sweet faces, I smile. They are the best therapists one can wish for.
I guess I can say that the barn is the best place to be. I don’t think of it as work, I think of it as doing something to help the horses (and the amazing person who has given me so much by being my teacher and more importantly my friend) who do so much for me. The tell tale sign for me was this year when my mom offered me a trip to Europe for my birthday and I asked her to rather give me money so I can do some riding again.
