A few years ago, my horse foundered in the middle of winter. Maybe the oat hay was too rich for him, we don’t know for sure why it happened.
But it was horrible. He went down in his stall and couldn’t get up. I called my farrier who came over immediately and suggested I call the vet.
The vet came and gave him a shot of ace and we were able to get him standing. The vet also recommended I get special boots to help cushion my horse’s feet. I also gave him a shot of ace everyday and some bute. The boots really helped a lot. My horse is much better now, but I keep him off spring grass and I give him a special supplement for his feet.
