Where do we start?

One of the things that makes learning to ride a unique experience is the fact that our ‘equipment’ in this sport is actually a living, breathing animal with a perspective and world view all his own.

That is a large part of the appeal for most of us.

Once we take the time to understand what the horse might be thinking and once we recognize the ways the horse might express his opinion, that part of riding at least, starts to make more sense.

For beginners, I’m sure it can feel a bit like learning a foreign language. But once you start to get a bit of a vocabulary, a bit of an understanding of the grammar and the syntax, the world that opens up with horses is limitless.

And it’s so very worth it.
